Jody Powell is a dynamic, enthusiastic, and highly self-motivated mortgage professional with more than four decades of experience in the real estate and lending industry. She earned her real estate license in 1982 and went on to establish and own her own brokerage, J.E. Powell Mortgage Brokerage, in 1992. For over three decades, Jody has been at the forefront of helping clients achieve homeownership and guiding loan officers in building successful careers.

As the owner of her brokerage, she built and managed a fully established, multi-faceted mortgage business in Florida that offered a wide range of lending services. She personally oversaw underwriting processes, negotiated with wholesale lenders nationwide, and orchestrated state and local events, trade shows, conferences, and educational seminars.

A passionate advocate for community development, Jody worked closely with housing programs to support first-time buyers and those in need of down payment assistance. She was recognized as one of the top three go-to professionals in the country for commercial lending and served as a Florida State Instructor for the Mortgage Broker Course. Her leadership extended beyond her business: she actively lobbied in Washington, D.C., and Tallahassee on behalf of FAMB and NAMB, contributing to the passage of critical moratorium bills in Congress.

Jody also helped establish B-D sub-prime paper, which led to the launch of her corporation and board-level leadership roles. In addition to running her own firm, she held high-level positions in major institutions:

• Regional Manager, American Home Mortgage (2005–2006): Launched operations, hired and trained loan consultants.
• Regional Office Manager & Senior Loan Consultant, Countrywide Home Loans (2002–2005): Originated loans nationwide and trained teams across all 50 states.
• Regional Branch Manager, Washington Mutual: Oversaw loan completion in nearly all states, led marketing efforts targeting realtors, developers, and builders, and introduced the bank to county community development programs.

Today, Jody brings her deep expertise, leadership, and passion for client success to OM Mortgage, LLC (as of April 29, 2025). Her unmatched blend of entrepreneurial drive, corporate leadership, and community advocacy makes her a trusted partner to clients and colleagues alike.
